HAPPY HAPPY last day of April!
What a whirlwind of an April its been!! I’ve been wanting to try this Aveda Pramasana Treatment for a while and finally have had the time to do it! So much traveling, weddings, bachelorettes, parties, etc i figured it was time I took care of my hair.
Let me back up for a second. You guys are probably thinking: what is the Pramasana Treatment? Essentially: it is a facial for your hair. I went to the NYC salon Fourteenjay to better understand and to get it done. The treatment gently purifies your scalp which instantly balances out the sebum levels. What are the sebum levels? Yes i know i had to google this too don’t worry: the Sebaceous Gland are microscopic exocrine glands in the skin that give out an oily matter called sebum which is to lubricate or waterproof the skin and hair. First off, Fourteen Jay is such a cute place. My stylist John was BEYOND great. He first asked me if I knew anything about the treatment. I casually said “i heard its like a facial for your scalp” and he was so excited because he clearly knew did my homework. So he started with a scalp consultation, followed by a scalp camera to get a better idea whats going on up there. He used this device and took a photo of my scalp. To my surprise, he said my scalp was surprisingly not bad. He discussed how he sees more than one hair growing out of each follicle (huge plus), and not too much product buildup. From there he went to work.
1st: John took a hairbrush and simply massaged my scalp. He did this in small circular motions in small parts. He always checked on me and was making sure the pressure worked and if i had any sensitive areas. From there, they exfoliate, cleanse and then moisturize your scalp before your blowout. We finally went to the wash area and he put in a deep hydrating mask in my hair and then gave me an amazing hand massage.
We got back to the chair and he showed me the after results. although John told me in the beginning my hair was pretty well off i still saw a difference! It makes total sense to think about getting a scalp treatment every once in a while! Depending on your hair of course, you may need it more often but if you are interested, i would definitely recommend checking this out! if you do, let me know your thoughts!!
Until next time!
