Happy Tuesday! If you are just getting on board and following me, I apologize in advance: most of my insta-stories recently have been about me moving. I helped my parents move out of the home I grew up in and I am moving back into my apartment (after a massive flood destroyed it 1.5 years ago). Now that you are all caught up on recent events, I wanted to take some time to go over what is in my makeup bag! I am a makeup junkie and definitely have way too much makeup (like most makeup addicts). I follow so many different beauty bloggers to see what they use and more importantly how they use it. Last fall I finally enrolled in a makeup certification course. They not only taught me how to perfect my technique of applying makeup but they also made me learn so much more about different products!
Now let me start off by saying it took me a long time to find products that work well with my skin. Like everyone else, I had a lot of trial and error but finally have a few staples that are in my makeup bag year-round. During the summer time, less is more to me. I am not a fan of wearing heavy foundations/concealers while I’m sweating just walking to work…and BTW: it’s a 15 minute walk to work so my makeup shouldn’t be running down my face. Check out below what you will find in my makeup bag!
XOXO,
Sunrise Cay
Primer: I’ve been testing different ones over the last year or so and the one I’ve been sticking to the most is Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer. I love that I do not have to use too much to cover my whole face. The way that it smoothes out my skin I can tell that my tinted moisturizer looks so much better with having this primer on.

Foundation/Tinted Moisturizer: NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer! This has been in my bag for years! Seriously! Ever since I discovered this bad boy, I have been obsessed. First things first: It has SPF 30 which is crucial! I am a big fan of tinted moisturizers and only really look into the ones that have SPF in them. Next, it is oil-free. I tend to get oily in my t-zone so this product really helps with that.
Tip: Less is more. After applying a very thin layer of primer, I begin to apply a small amount (pea size) to my entire face.
Concealer: Again, I try really hard during the summer to not have too many layers of makeup because to me it feels like too much during this time of year. That being said, I have awful dark circles under my eyes. During my makeup certification, my instructor Paulina, always told me that I don’t have bags it’s just my eyes are big and cast a shadow….I am sure that is true but I still don’t like the “shadow” haha Anyways! My go to is Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Complete Coverage Concealer. Thank Jesus for older sisters because my sister Chrissie introduced me to this collection a few years ago, and since then it has not left my bag. It is SO lightweight and super blendable, it does not even feel like I am wearing anything! It is also great if I need just light coverage, and it is buildable aka when I need to add more coverage! I love this stuff!
Bronzer: So I have two I use. Why? I have an olive skin tone and I easily tan so sometimes ones works better than the other, it all just depends! My two go-to’s: Hoola Matte Bronzer & NARS Bronzing Powder. Both of these I love for the same reasons: they blend so well with my skin tone and they are both buildable. When I am contouring, they both provide the right amount of contour to accentuate my cheekbones and my forehead. The NARS one has a subtle shimmer which I love because then I use less of a highlighter.

Highlighter: Highlighters/Glow kits I’ve only started to use about a year ago and now I can’t imagine my daily routine without them. For those of you who don’t use it or do not know what it is: Highlighters attract light to your face. It gives your face that amazing glow/dewy look. My favorite highlighters all come from the same brand: Anastasia Beverly Hills. My most recent favorite one from them is the collab that Anastasia did with Nicole Guerrero. The colors really just blend very well and complement the bronzers I use.

Others I am obsessed with: http://www.anastasiabeverlyhills.com/glow-kit-sun-dipped/ABH01-18158.html?cgid=glow-kits#start=3&cgid=glow-kits
Tip: go to a beauty counter and test out these highlighters before making the purchase. $40 is a lot, and you need to see which colors complement your skin tone.
Eyebrows: Since I’ve already mentioned my obsession with Anastasia’s highlighters, this is the perfect leeway into discussing her brow collections. This is the only brand I allow to touch my eyebrows. Why? This company not only provides a variety in her collection but also the actual tools to really make your brows look great. I first started using the Brow Wiz, then moved to the Brow Definer, and now I only use Dipbrow Pomade. It took me a while to get to the Dipbrow but it is my absolute favorite product. This is one of the few products that I do not need to reapply.

Eyeshadow: Like every makeup junkie, I have way too many of eye palettes. My go to one is actually found in drugstores. CoverGirl Trunaked Nudes palette has all the right colors. Even though there has been a lot of speculation that the CG palette is a dupe of Urban Decay Naked, this one actually is actually pretty great. Both budget friendly and a great product, it really is hard to say no to this. Having a mix of both matte and shimmer colors, the nude palette is perfect for summer. When I just want a little extra something around my eyes, I apply one of the lighter shimmers below my eyebrows and on the inner corner of my eye to just give that additional pop! BTW: I have so many more palettes I use, but this is what I’ve been sticking to the last few months.

Mascara: Recently, I have been getting eyelash extensions. With all the moving, I've barely been wearing any makeup! When I do not have extensions in, I have two go-to's: Too Faced Better Than Sex and L'Oreal Voluminous Original. With both products I see thickness and volume in my lashes. They are at different price points but if you are looking for a formula to give you more volume, I would highly recommend trying either one of these!
